  1. I ripped a DVD to my hard drive...now i want to convert parts of it into mp3 (not the entire movie). What is th best way to go about this and with what tools? Thanks so much

  2. I have never done this, but a simplistic approach would be to use Microsoft's Sound Recorder (comes with Winx9x, W2K, and XP). Just double click on the sound icon in the system tray (by the clock), and then under Options...Properties, select "Recording" under "Adjust volume for" (make sure that Wave/MP3 is checked off in the below list so that it will show it). This will take you to a screen where you can control the record volume levels for various devices, as well as select which device gets recorded. Select the Wave/MP3.

    Now you just have to playback the DVD any way that you like (WinDVD, IFOEDIT, etc.) If you can hear the sound, then you can use Sound Recorder to record it. The sound clips will save as .wav's. Then use Lame to convert to .mp3 (search for Lame encoder and you will find it).
