  4. Try Slide Show Movie Maker. I made a photo montage for my wedding and this was by far the easiest and most flexible program out there. It has tons of transitions to choose from and can use any codec on your system for output. I outputed to DivX with a very high bitrate and then used Premiere to put it on tape.

The best thing about SSMM though is that it is Freeware!

Try it. You won't be disappointed.

  5. Ulead DVD Pictureshow is good, but without transition effects.

I have tried SSMM without success. When I try to create the slideshow avi using Divx codec, it gives me an error message saying that it can't use the codec. Same problem even if I choose to save avi uncompressed.

  7. Try "photos on cd and dvd" by Magix. Judging by the tutorials on its website this is the one to buy

  8. From what I've learned on this site, using a program like Ulead DVD Pictureshow will not create MPEGs of your JPEG photos. So it's not real video, and that's why you can't add transitions. You also get better quality (higher resolution) by not converting the MPER. Is all this right? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't care as much about transitions and other video effects as I do about picture quality, which on a standard non-HDTV, is terrible. For comparison, the resolution of those cheesy $39 digital cameras far surpasses that of a $5000 large-screen TV.

So to display my 3 MegaPixel photos on a TV, certainly does them no justice. So why would I want to do this anyway? Because it's so easy just to throw a CD in and let it play in the room that everyone's in already: the TV room (not the computer room... for those of us who don't have their TV and computer in the same general area).

I've thought of using Ulead DVD Pictureshow too, but then I saw a DVD player that plays JPEG files directly. Just copy them to a CD-R! My question is, what provides better picture quality? Creating a photo VDC or playing the JPEG directly? Also, what happens to the 3:2 aspect ratio of the photos in both cases, and what play features does one format offer over the other?

    Thanks.

I have used the ULead photo VCD program and WinOnCD5.

WinOnCD5 was the better of the two by far for the finished product.
It is more complex when setting up the disk etc but the images are far superior.

I should have said that it is very easy to add music to the WinOnCD5 photo VCD show.
You simple drag and drop the mp3 file into your photo selction on the disk that you are creating - works a treat

  11. i found ulead dvd picture show by far the best and easiest program to create SIMPLE photo VCD. it does not convert your original image to mpeg1 or mpeg2. even in VCD mode the photo image show close to original image quality. however vcd mode has problem with background music. it get out of syns. photo dvd does not have audio problem.
