  1. With CCE you can use one-pass vbr. You have to set the Quantization Factor (image quality) for the output and also the min and max bitrate for the movie!

Does someone knows how this 1-pass is working (the manual does not describe it well)?
If you have a part of the video where CCE can not meet the Quality setting with the max. bitrate you gave, will CCE go below the Q-factor(image quality) you set or use a higher bitrate as the max. settings?

Why can you set a max bitrate with the Quality factor? If you choose a low max bitrate and a pretty high image quality, CCE can not produce that quality.

    TIA.

  2. I think most people who use CCE use the n-pass VBR, since that gives you great bitrate control. I certainly never use one-pass for anything...

  3. i use the 1 pass vbr quite a bit for movies with not much action, usually comedy's and kids movies. i usually set the quat factor at 30 and the max to 2400 and the min to 1600 and i get good quality that fits about 100 minutes on 2 cd's. this of course is not as good as the n-pass but the difference isn't that noticable and the time you save encoding is worth it. this of course is my opinion.
