I need some help getting a file format so that it is as small a file size as possible and the best quality as possible. I know that I am asking for the best of both worlds, but I am trying to post video on an internet site, and I don't know what settings to capture video at so that I can achieve the good quality/small file size dilemma. Anyone able to help? If you can provide me with advice on what resolution/frame rate/sound rate etc to use, it would be really appreciated.

really depends what kind of video it is, and who will download it and what for. the best would be windows movie maker (windows media encoder). mpg4 codecs are pretty good for this.
capturing shouldnt matter what size you capture at, just have to resize it to what you want.
