  1. I've followed the guide on the website and everything seems to go okay up until I click the final ok to start the conversion. I left VirtualDub run for about 10 minutes and not a single bit of progress occured.

The guide says to use DivX Low Motion for the compression but it's not even an option for me. I've installed the Nimo pack and all the stuff from DivX. I tried doing this using the DivX 5.02 option for compression. Any help anyone can offer would be grand.

    Thanks.

If you have Nimo, then that codec is in there

    Load into Vdub

    Video > full processing mode
Video > compression > Select a codec > change bit rate for smaller size

    Audio > full processing mode
Audio > compression > select codec > change bitrate for smaller size

    SAVE AVI

  3. I've looked and looked...I've uinstalled Nimo and reinstalled it. I've uninstalled the DivX 5.02 pack and just installed Nimo...hell I've even just installed the 4.12 DivX pack. The only codec that shows says just like this...

    DivX 5.02

    Or

    DivX 4.12

That's it. The one with the winking smiley isn't there. I don't get it.

  4. I've tried just about everything I can think of to try. This is VERY frustrating. I hear so many people saying great things about VirtualDub but it just isn't working for me. When I went to save my AVI file one time, I went ahead and put to preview it and it said it would be like 980 megs or some such madness.

I'm following the tutorial as best I can from both here and NickyPages. Neither are working for me and the only DivX related codec I see for use in VirtualDub is the 5.02 codec.

Please, by all that is sacred, someone help me...*laughs*

Fill in your computer details, then we know what you have.

You can check to see what codec's you have installed. Control panel > multi media > Devices > Video compression codec's
Then at leased you can see they are installed.

If you load into TMPGEnc what happens ?

You can save to AVI in there file > output to file > AVI > codec

  6. I checked out all my codecs like you said and I found that it still only showed the DivX 5.02 codec as far as DivX codecs go.

I tried using TMPGEnc to change to AVI and the first time the audio was out of sync. So, I used dBpowerAmp and put the audio into wave format. This also didn't work correctly. I'm guessing that the mpeg file was just not put together well.

Anyway, I finally used a program called MPEG Mediator and changed the files from mpeg-1 to AVI. Then using VirtualDub I pieced the resulting two AVI files together into one AVI file.

Thank you so much for all your effort. I really appreciate it.
