  1. I have an avi-file (fps 29,97), which i would like to burn on a vcd for a pal dvd/vcd-player. I use tmpgenc to encode it. I select pal as a format. Will i have problems because of the 29,97 fps.

  4. yea you can. use tmpeg go to browse pull up the file, then go to settings change the (i can't remember what it's called) but change it to 352x240, then you can either use 4:3 ntsc or 4:3 pal (4:3 ntsc is mainly used for tvs) 16:9 ntsc or 16:9 pal (is mainly used for letterbox) there all ok i've heard that most dvd players use ntsc

  5. If you are in Europe and your TV is less than 10 or so years old there is a good chance it will handle NTSC without problems. Encode your Divx as NTSC, burn and try it. What is the cost of one CD-R (or use a cdrw) against all the effort required for a good quality NTSC->PAL conversion

My TV's are 22 and 17 years old respectively and play both PAL and NTSC encoded videos no problem. My friend has a similar age of TV and he has no problem either.

So maybe the year of manufacture doesn't matter?

  8. The 10 years was only meant as a rough guide. Basically the older the TV the higher chance it wont accept NTSC, but I would expect make and model to figure too.
