After several weeks of testing, and trying two different drives, I have come to the conclusion that the Pioneer 104 does not work under Windows 9x/Me and the Intel 845 chipset.

The problem is that every time a write command is issued, a SCSI command timeout error occurs and the system crashes. I have tried all the usual stuff, turning DMA on and off, primary and secondary IDE channel, slave/master, updated firmware and so on. I have also installed the drive on many freshly installed OS'es. Unless there is a problem with all the latest versions of Nero, I believe there is a problem with the 104 and the Intel 845 chipset.

I would like to hear from other users that might be using the 845 chipset and the 104. It works fine under Windows 2000, but not under any of the Win9x/Me versions.
