i'm capturing video using directshow (wdm) capture application (eg: amcap, virtualvcr, iuvcr), and do av processing with virtualdub. the problem i got when dropped frame occur.
after the dropped frame, the av stream no longer sync & it hard to processing with virtualdub. (the avi got error when playing in windows media player - invalid format)
the av still sync if there is no dropped framed, and the av processing in virtualdub will be straight forward without any error.
joining avi files with virtualdub seems imposibble if there is any dropped frame occur using any directshow capture application.
opening the dropped frame avi using adobe or ulead product will produce an error. usually the application will be freeze.
question.
1. is there anybody know how to solve this problem?
2. why this is happen?
3. is there any directshow application that can do cut/join/processing av available ?
4. does virtualdub do not support the captured avi using directshow/wdm?
5. what does it means "dropped 2" in virtual vcr?

I was wondering if there was any particular reason that you weren't capturing with Virtualdub or AVI-IO in the first place? Both programs automatically skew the audio to deal with dropped frames.......I NEVER have synch problems even when I am capturing shitty quality VHS tapes. you might want to try that....
