  1. Is it possible to take an mpeg2 that has been ripped from a dvd and re-encode with tmpgnc to a smaller bitrate so it can fit onto a dvd-r? Is this a slow process and how does the picture look? Will the finished mpeg2 be accepted by authoring programs?
    Thanks for the feedback.
    By the way, I did try bbmpeg but it,s slow. Perhaps you guys know of another way of doing this while maintaing good quality.

    yes it is possible, the quality will be great but it is a kinda slow process if you have a slow processsor. doom9 has guides for www.vcdhelp.com/dvdripping#dvd (the ifoedit guides)

  3. Thanks for the info. I like the idea of using cce to do the encodes, but the guides you suggested do not explain how to get the mpeg2 into cce. I do not think it will accept an mpeg2 file, only avi.
