  1. Hello, i have a mpeg-file, i guess its mpeg1 with 25 fps and i want to burn it on vcd.
I burned the file to a cd and tried to play it with a dvd-player. But it wont work. I must admit, that i used a very lousy cd, which might be to cheap. So i bought new cd's with a better quality. I am not sure, if i have to convert the mpeg-file, so now i did it with tmpgenc.
Is it neccesary to convert the file, if its in a mpeg-format?

  2. You cant just burn an mpeg file to a CD and expect it to play in a DVD player. You have to use VCD authoring software such as nero and select the VCD option to create and burn your VCD.

Just because the file is mpeg, does'nt necessarily mean it is VCD compliant. However if it is'nt VCD compliant nero will warn you of this and ask you if you want to reencode. Do not use nero to reencode.

You have two options create a non standard XVCD, less compatible but will still play in many players. Or you can reencode to VCD specs with TMPGEnc.
