I think (and I may be wrong) that that is part of the authoring/burning software you use. There is something called "disc protect" or something like that in Ulead, which is what I use with my pioneer 104, and I have never made a bum disc.

Yes it does! It is stated in the product specification. DVR-104 is the oem version of DVR A04, they are with the same spec.
