hi all, i seem to have come across a, under the setup option during a movie, menu which lets you swtich regions freely. just go under setup ( NOT the DVD setup on the movie itself) under custom settings. i was trying to change the parental control, and low and behold, there is a region setting which lets you change your contrie (mine was set at USA). however i only have US dvds so i cant test it. if there is anyone out there with a PS2 who is willing to help me out finding if this is real or not would be much apriciated. <i am newbie so if this is old news or somthing let me know>
Thanks a bundle

I haven't quite figured out what that menu down there is but I know it's not the Region selection menu. If that was it, every damn PS2 would have been recalled.
You can only get region hacks if you own a japanese PS2.
I got a Japanaese SCPH-10000 w/ dvd driver 1.0. It allows me to play Region 1 and Region2 and a few lucky Region 3 DVDs whenever I hold "down" on the d-pad of the controller (non-dual shock gamepad). Beats me how that loophole works but I can guarentee that's not menu you found is not setup to play multi-region DVDs. If it was you can check the news and everyone would be sueing sony to wazoo land.
