I'm having TMPGEnc do a CQ-VBR re-encode an MPEG1 file I captured in MMC at a high bitrate. The capture was 140 minutes and ended up as 5.5 GB. TMPGEnc ran through the 140 minutes of the movie in 119 minutes. It is now continuously showing the last frame (where I stopped recording) and telling me it has 9 hours remaining and the source position keeps climbing! What the hell is it doing? It can't possibly be re-encoding the last frame over and over can it? In the past the "time remaining" figure started out too high with high bitrate files but came down as the file progressed until the "time remaining" and "source position" equalled out (0 and the length of the original capture). By the looks of it I am going to end up with 4-5 hours. But of what?

Looks like it's gonna be more like 8 hours. What the other 5 1/2 are going to be is a mystery.
