In so many posts people are very happy with spruceup. I search high and low for SpruceUp and come up empty.

What other authoring/Burning app is recommended now that Spruceup is not available to us newbies. I need to deal with two types of files.
1 - My captured files are mpeg2 (compliant i think) captured from DVD Creation Station or from a Matrox RT2500.
2 - Ripped DVD using CladDVD XP which results in the VOB type of files.

I tried nero and it seemed to only want the VOB type of files.

Is there an author/burn app that can handle both types of files and that most people like?

Thanks for your assistance and wisdom.

  2. SpruceUp trial is here http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/spruceup.cfm

Since they no longer sell SpruceUp I guess it's okay to use cracks

    NO IT IS NOT.

I've also used a friend's programme called ReelDVD. I don't know where to get this, but it seemed like a good programme.

Thanks Circleking, but when I go to the link
    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/spruceup.cfm
all download capabilities have been disabled. You would think that they would get rid of the page but they must like to torture us.

Anyway, I appreciate the help and I will look into ReelDVD now.

    Err, ReelDVD is big bucks.

You aren't very clear what you want the authoring program to be able to do, but some affordable options are Ulead movie factory (cheap), ulead dvd workshop (noticeably more $), and newly released pinnacle studio 8 (which is also an editing package).

And note I don't think any authoring program will take VOB files you have ripped as input. The authoring program GENERATES vob files. I don't know much about how to burn vob files.

It worked for me just now. Did you click on the "download" button at the bottom?

Oh BTW sorry about the link baldrick. Should have asked first.

I just checked the Sonic website that has ReelDVD. They want $1500 U.S. for it. VERY pricey.

I got ReelDVD with Scenarist and DVD informer from my arab friend.

I see now I've come into some good property.

Anyway, from what's i've read, ReelDVD is inferior to alot of other programs.

Based on your reassurance I went back to
    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/spruceup.cfm
for the 5th time and looked the page over real good. There are blank places on the page. I moved my cursor very carefully across the blank spots and wouldn't you know it, at times it turns form an arrow into a hand. There are no buttons, or boxes, or text, where the buttons should be, just blank white page. I guess my IE 5 doesn't view the page properly. I clicked and a "Send This To a Freind" box pops up. So, I tried again and got the hidden download button.

    Thanks for sticking with me.

I did have reasonable success last night with Movie Factory.

    SpruceUp will get tested next.
