Video and Audio async problems using TMPG 1.43

Hi

I am using DVD2AVI to convert movies to AVI format and then using TMPG 1.43 to convert them to MPG II SVCD format...When I play the MPEG II on PowerDVD or on my DVD player, the video and audio is fine in the beginning, but after few minutes the video and audio are out of sync...Has anybody experienced this? Is there a way to fix this?
