  1. Anyone ever have this problem before. Tmpeg and panasonic encoder were both working fine for me. Now, no matte what encoder program I use, my WHOLE COMPUTER freezes about 5-10 minutes into the encoder.

I'm running a 950mz celeron with 100gig hard drive and 326m sdram. I though I had a virus so I cleaned my main hard drive. Totally wiped everything off the drive. Still freezes in encoder. Prett much only in the encoder, though.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all!

  2. Is your computer by any chance overclocked? I was perfectly stable for a year and suddenly my computer started crashing during encoding and 3d games. I factory clocked it and all my problems went away......

  3. Actually, I don't know if it's overclocked. How would I check, and if necessary, change it?

    Appreciate the help.

  4. If you didn't overclock it yourself it probably isn't the problem. Unless you bought your computer from someone of questionable morals. It was just an idea....I hope you solve your problem. You have tried MANY encoders right? Does your computer freeze any other time? Encoding is VERY processor intensive....if your computer freezes during 3D games or 0ther intensive activity I would suggest you open it up and check the fan on your processor. Freezing can be caused by excessive heat.

  5. Thanks. One of my ide ribbons was interfering with the fan. Things are working just fine now.

Thinking it was a virus I debugged and cleaned the drive, then reinstalled everything. Gotta check the simple things first.

    Really appreciate it, bud.

  7. You might want to make sure all other applications are closed, and you have sufficient memory available.
