  1. Please can anyone help me...I'm new to DVDs.

I recently purchased a DVD and it plays fine on my DVD player at home (however the quality isn't great so I think it may be a copy of a DVD!) however when I come to play it on my DVD-ROM on my computer it won't work! When I put it in my CD-ROM it isn't recognized and when I put it in my DVD-ROM it opens Windows Media Player V7.01.00.3055 but when I try to play it I get the message: Cannot play back the file. The format is not supported. I have also tried using powerDVD but I get a DVD Error window pop up which gives the Error code 89030000 and the message: Unknown file format.

I have looked at the DVD-ROM using Explorer and I can only see one file. The file is "Track01.cda" and it is only 1kb in size. I tried to copy the DVD to my hard drive using CloneCD and I got three files: Image.ccd (1kb), Image.img (1Gb) & Image.sub (42Mb).

All I want to do is be able to play the DVD on my Pioneer DVD500M (on my computer) or/and copy the DVD onto my hard drive so that I can play it from there.

    CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE?

I would get either windvd or powerdvd to play dvd's on your computer.
or, you might(I'm not positive on this) be able to get away with installing the mpeg2 codec, and then playing the dvd.
what are you askin' me for...
    I'm an idiot!

  4. You should purchase or download DVD software players. I had the same windows media problems with dvds until i purchased Cyberlink PowerDVD, and now I run through DVDs (and ripped vobs) like a breeze. You might also want to download Kazaa (great program) from download.com to look for shareware DVD software, although it has a plethora of pirated software .
