Anamorphic SVCD: which standalones?

I always create anamorphic svcd, I have a TV, that I can set manually to anamorphic/normal input, so there's no problem there. I just set one av-input to anamorphic, the other to normal. I think there's no way to make it switch automatically.

Which player model do you use?
I too can switch my tv between 16:9 and 4:3 but I'm searching for a player which if it detects an anamorphic svcd will put out a true 16:9 image and no eggheads.

When using anamorfic video the video recorder and player is standard 4:3 NTSC or PAL hardware. You simply make a correcting with the lens when recording, and with a wide screen when playing. Any DVD player can play anamorfic video as long as you have a TV set you can change the aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9. This is obviously not the same as HDTV, but standard definition TV with a aspect ratio of 16:9 using an anamorfic lens.

Yes, but it is my understanding, that there is a flag on the dvd or svcd, that tells the player to output the images as 16:9 and not as 4:3. Otherwise you get eggheads.
And I do not know, if all or only a few standalones support this feature with svcd discs .
Please correct me, if I'm wrong!
