I encoded a File in Virtual Dub using Xvid codec. I really cant get any other codec to work. When i tried to convert the file using TMPGenc, I couldn't encode it.
Is there anyway to make TMPGenc encode this AVI file?
I want to encode in MPEG2 for CVD.... at 23 fps 16:9 ratio, NSTC, 2 pass VBR, at 2600 max,2600avg,1700min.

what did you encode from to begin with? you should really only convert once, because every conversion comes at the price of a loss of quality.
what are you askin' me for...
    I'm an idiot!

It may not have been your source at all, the fact that you want SVCD as the output may be your problem, if you have not got the correct mpeg 2 codec installed.

Depending on what version of TMPGEnc would dictate what codec is needed. Free V5.5 < should work just fine with the Nimo Codec pack, where as TMPGEnc Plus 2.57 needs to have a codec installed that's provided with a program like PowerDVD 4

Xvid (Divx backwards) is also a new codec its a carry on where DivX 4.8 (but not the same codec) left off, I see no advantage at all for using this codec, just because its new and available.

What does TMPGEnc say when you try ?

  4. Xvid is a great codec, in fact it has been designed to be ISO mpeg 4 compatible, so if you use it, then you will be able to play it on future DVD's and in future software players (Example Quicktime 6). Also the people behind the codec are working in hard things (like B frames and other stuff), that divx at this time not use.

Well The reason why I wanted to encode in Virtual Dub the first time is because the video had some logos and Virtual Dub had the plugins to remove them. Is there anyway to remove them with TMPGEnc?

Yes so was 3..1 Alpha, then 4,8, then when it reached V 5, it became commercial.

If you think Xvid is for the future

www.divx.com are trying hard to persuade the movie companies to use digital rights, do you think for one minuet an open source codec could ever be adopt... not in this lifetime

There is NO need at all for xvid
