i have converted a divx of "home videos" to mpegs and then put them on the cd by using TMPGEnc, but the result comes up really wide on the TV screen...and the edge is not correct. please help.

I wont ask why your originals are DivX
However if you go into TMPGEnc > Setting > Advanced from there you can experiment with the screen size. The normal setting is Full screen > keep aspect ratio, but you could select the crop to see what you can achieve.
