  1. Hi,
I don't understand why a 700MB mpg file shows as 40 min in WMP and when I try to burn it in Nero, it shows close to 70 min.

700 MB mpeg 1, would be close to the 80 Min mark, so WMP is at fault if it is a VCD mpeg 1 ?

  3. also, if it is mpeg 2 then 40 mins WOULD fill a 70 min cd so nero would be correct and so would WMP mpeg - 1 vcd are right on the money, one minute of video = one minute of CD space. but mpeg - 2 is off a bit so approx 35-45 mins of video will fit on a standard SVcd.

  4. sorry re-post here lol re-read the question, DEFINATELY an mpeg-2 file if it is 700 MB and 40 mins. Nero measures time in referebce to CD space and wmp measures time in actual playing time. therefore the discrepancy

  7. KingJohn thats one way, you could also play the file and see that it looks odd (480x480) or load the file into Bitrate Viewer.
