A video File I have plays just fine in Windows Media Player, but all other encoders and software all report it as either corrupt, or not a valid AVI file.
I have tried loads of convertors, encoders, repair tools etc to no avail. I have also tried renaming it with different file extensions to see if it is not an avi file.
vdub hex editor mentions 'Oggs' and 'Div3' but nothing much else recognisable.
The movie is TheOthers.AVI
Any help with this one, or is it a well-known corrupt file?
thanks,
g.

Did I already see this post elsewhere. Well "The Others" DVD rip has been out a while and if I can remember may have had just a few bad frames, else it was just fine.
If it plays fine, it is possible that another codec like DivX 5 is being used to play it, but when it comes to editing you need the correct one, you say that is Div3 which is an Mpeg 4 DivX V3 codec and the audio is Oggs vorbis ?
I would start by installing the Nimo codec pack, it has most of the poplar codec's including the one you say it is.
