Looking for a way to capture winamp visualizations (and audio) other than outputting thru a scan converter (to VHS). Since I dont have one..... ? Any Ideas?

There is a program called hypercam. It does everything you want, saved to an avi file with any encoder you have on your comp. If you have problems capturing, try disabling video acceleration through your control panel/video. Just remember to return it back to normal after you are done with the capture.

wokeupnow.......No it doesn't.
However there is a program you might be able to find called asfr recorder.
Basically you click on the link and save link as. Sometimes you get the video but normally you get a link to the video. Then you take that file which will be small if its just the link and change it to a text file. Then copy the address it has in it.
Paste that address into asfr recorder and hit record. It will play the video and record it as it plays it frame by frame and then you will have an asfr file of the video and I think they have a way to convert that here somewhere. Not only am I perfect but I'm Canadian too! -
Wokeupnow... YES IT DOES!!!
people should never say doesn't. There is a way. Just disable video acceleration through your video properties, before starting the streaming video, and the recording. After you are done, set video acceleration back to full. -
I'm still totally amazed anyone can get Winamp visualizations to even display properly!
It doesn't seem to use any sort of video acceleration, so even after buying my Geforce 4, those video displays are still poking along!
I'm just curious, what res do you view at, and what system do you need to keep up? -
I use the lowest everything. I use 640X480 256 color. I would assume you could use a higher resolution, but when color depth was higher the video looked horrible.

Well that is funny as the creator of the program himself told me via email that it couldn't do that.
Maybe he has updated it since thenNot only am I perfect but I'm Canadian too! -

it is funny that the FAQ from the site explains in pretty good detail how to do it.

That is really stratneg as I sent him an email about a year ago asking if it could do that as I was interested in getting the program to do that bery thing. I asked specifically iuf I could capture streaming video from real Player. He said something along the lines of "computers are not fast enough to capture streaming video and won't be any time in the near future".
So he lost a sale. I find it strange that he told me misleading info and lost a sale but obviously the faq must be correct. I just am surprised the guy who programed it didn't give me accurate info. Not only am I perfect but I'm Canadian too! -
Well, couldn't get it to go, so I'm experimenting with videotaping it off the screen to digital8 - mixing it back with the audio in premiere - got the refresh set where it barley makes a difference.
Very slight rolling line - but lose alot of color detail in the process.
Still looking for a better way - maybe LCD screen to cam! no 60Hz + Refresh problems, and 29fps...... -
Do a web search for asfr recorder
it works greatNot only am I perfect but I'm Canadian too!
