    well i have converted several of my avi's into mpeg2 using tmgenc and burned them as svcd's using nero burning rom AND THEY NEVER PLAY ON MY DVD PLAYER(and yes normal vcd's play on my dvd player)! I was hoping someone here would have any suggestions

    many standalone dvd players do play standard vcd formats but svcd is different as there are alot of players that dont support svcd. and just becuase it plays vcd doesnt mean it will play svcd......check the dvd compatiblity list

    It is very possible that your DVD doesn't support SVCD. Check the list on here that tells what DVD supports what.
