how to create vcd in best quality ... ?

I new on this,
I've created vcd from avi full uncompressed, and i encoded to pal vcd.
but the quality is poor,
how to make it better ? i need best video quality..

wich software did u used for encoding?

i use ulead video studio 6 to rendering the vcd. or MGI Video Wave.

I know video studio but I never tried!
I use premiere and TMPGenc. TMPGenc I think is the best encoder... try it with your same avi not compressed and comparise the 2 mpg videos

i need to split and merge the video file, should i save in avi first ? or mpeg file ?

If you use premiere and TMPGenc you can create an mpeg2 file directly, with a special program: video server plug-in (http://www.videotools.net/).

i've been used adobe premiere 6 , but i have problem in editing the video.
it takes time too long to previewed the video that i have edited.
