  1. I downloaded a DivX and managed to convert it to mpeg using Videopack5. Did the same to create the VCD but the film ended up full of some weird static after a few minutes of play.

so my question is : what program would u guys have used to convert the DivX and with what do you usualy burn the VCDs with?

I know that the website has some tutorials on the subject and I have read them, but i want to know your opinions.

Use TMPGEnc to make the mpeg, Load in a VCD template (PAL/NTSC)
Use full screen > keep aspect ratio (default)

If the output is now too large to fit on 1 CDR, use TMPGEnc again with file > mpeg tools > merge & cut and cut mpeg in half.

Load Video Pack 5, drop in the movie1.mpg, drop in a Jpeg still picture that says "Insert disk 2"

Use the routing from the mpeg to the still picture, use routing on still picture to make it loop.

    Burn disk 1
