For cutting you can't beat bbmpeg, though you will have to demultiplex your streams first in TMPGenc.

For joining there is no good solution. TMPGenc has trouble editing mpeg2 files but most programs do an even worse job of it. M2 Edit is ok for editing mpeg2 files and I think it can join but it is very expensive and definitely not worth the pricetag overall.

It's a good idea to do all your editing before you convert to mpeg2 if possible.

I cut all my SVCD's in TEMPGEnc...
    No audio/sync problems at all...
Do you have the latest TEMPGEnc installed?

I dont know if it matters, but have you a' bad
SVCD codec installed? Causing audio sync, when playing
    your movie.
Play it in windvd or power dvd.

  4. I always use PowerDVD...I`ll try it with a newer version. But I think the main problem is, that Tmpenc can handle only VBR-SVCD files. But the file I got (recorded with PowerVCR) is in Constant Bitrate! I think that is the prob...Or what do you think???

    I'm no expert on it...
But the svcd I make...are in CBR Mode,
and I cut them. No problems..
I run the Wizard to make the setup, and size of the SVCD.
    And CBR is default setup.
And when you choose File type to open. In Mpeg tools, Cut/join
The file types for SVCD are only VBR...??
It make me' confused.. He he.

  6. Totally agree with Cramon. I use TMPGENC for SVCD cutting/joining without problem.
    Great software.
