  1. I have had success creating compliant VCDs from my Premiere uncrompressed .avi outputs. However when I try to use the TMPGenc template for SVCD NTSC Nero tells me it is non-compliant. Here's more info:

Using TMPGenc build 0.11.20.97 ( the one that you have to convert from jp to en because the 11.26.110 build keeps crashing on me )

After loading the SVCD template I see this at the bottom:
    $$Super_Video_CD_NTSC (MPEG-2 480x480 29.97fps CQ quality 65)

When I try to create in Nero I get this error message:

...file ... invalid, need MPEG-2 which was encoded for Super Video CD:
    audio: 44.1kHz MPEG-1/2, layer 2;
    stereo/dual-channel/multi-channel
    video: 480x480 at 29.97Hz or 480x576 at 25Hz

    The following problems was found:
    -invalid video stream: 29.97 frames/second, 480x480 pixels

I am posting here cause I think my problem is in conversion not with nero. I'm getting frustrated so all posts are welcome.

Try demultiplex and multiplex again. Select type SVCD. You may try bbMPEG for multiplexing as well. Some guys said, it is better. Also create a image (bin/cue) with a simple VCDImager GUI and burn the bin with Nero or if you can, with CDRWIN or Fireburner.
Hope one of these will solve it.

    You could make an XSVCD.

  4. First of all thanks for your replies.

Demultiplexing is an interesting suggestion but the test clip I am using right now has no sound. Is that a problem. The error I'm having seems to be in video so I'm trying to work just with video.

I tried using bbMPEG and using the output of SVCD settings but the file I get Nero really hates everything about it. . But I'm glad you suggested it cause maybe I'll figure the product out in a bit.

Greg you are hitting my other problem which is unsuccessful XVCD and XSVCDs. I figure before I use that unlock template I should at least create a successful SVCD.

Thanks for your replies again. I hate it when my posts get no responses. You guys made me happy this time. .

  5. If the clip you are trying to import to NERO doesnt have sound, then it is not compliant... Turn of the compliance and burn it on a CDRW and test it!

  6. I am having a much different problem. I can convert my avi's, but when they are about 99%done, it tells me that i don't have the right dvd software, so it can't play back the movie. Then i press ok, and it deletes the conversion and starts all over again. That is very annoying. Any suggestions?

Try unchecking the create standard compliant CD option in Nero's SVCD window.

Then load the mpeg and hopefully you will be able to burn it to cd.

Remember once burned, you will be only able to play it in a dvd player that supports SVCD's and on your PC you will only be able to play using a DVD Playing software like WINDVD or PowerDVD etc.

    Hope that help's you
