I had the impression that it is the TIME size and not the actual file size that determines the SVCD burn to a CD. I have a 900mb mpeg movie file and neither 740 nor 800mb cd is accepted by NERO. It complains about the file being too big!
I am confused - explanation or how to help will be very apprciated

your so called "time size" ONLY applies to standard VCD mpeg streams NOT SVCD streams!
STANDARD VCD mpeg stream [approximately, could be slightly less]
74min ~740MB
80min ~800MB
99min ~990MB
