One option greys out the boxes to enable CCS keys, but the other allows me to choose between no CCS and CCS enabled.
Is this like DVD+RW's compatibility mode?
One is like 2,058 bits or kilobits and one is like 2,054, the latter allowes me to input a ccs key.
Would I get slightly better compatiblity by using the 2,054 without a CCS key?

Do you mean CSS? The information I've read indicates that DVD-R/+R technology does not allow the sectors of a disc to be written where CSS encryption keys are stored, so if you turn that option on it will either prevent you from burning or be irrelevant unless you press your DVD.

I know it can't record the actual CSS key, I dont have a valid key.
But would i get higher compatibility if the sector was formated to 2,054 bytes. -
I don't think it will affect compatibility. In fact, if you don't have a valid key and simply put a random one in (if it even allows that), you may find yourself with an unplayable disc if it can't be decoded by the hardware.
