  1. I'm converting some tv eps (avi). They convert with tmpg no problem (48khz, 160kbps), and play just fine. But when I burn them (vcdeasy) and play them, the audio drops out every few seconds, like it's muting. I've tried it in 2 different model apex players. Any suggestions?

  2. Actually, it doesn't seem to go completely silent, just drops real low. This just kills me. It took me a ton of test burns to finally get menus down pat, now this. And it never happened before now. I've tried different movies, always the same thing. Any help appriciated.

  3. Also, I've tried it with the tmpg encoder, and with ssrc.

VCD ? 44.1Khz have you tried using the audio separated when converting with TMPGEnc

  5. You mean demux and then put them back together? No, but I can try. Also, do you think it could be because it's not at 44.1?

  6. 48 k audio is only used on dvd... for (x)(S)VCD always use 44.1 and keep an eye on the total bitrate...video + audio...must be within specs.

It was the reason I mentioned it VCD spec says that it should be 44.1Khz if some how you did get 48Khz on the disk, this alone would probably cause your problem.

It does sound like you skipped the check in Vdub, you would normally use that to extract the audio to a uncompressed WAV at 44.1Khz then when that is used with TMPGEnc there is little chance of problems with the audio.

At the same time, 48Khz makes me think you may even have AC3, so you would need "Vdub AC3" if it does have it.

Don’t know if you can rescue the mpeg you already made, might be worth trying, TMPGEnc can also save out the audio, but what ever method you choose, use 44.1Khz and uncompressed to be safe.
