  1. So here's the deal. I have a .wmv file that I wanted to put to vcd. I'm using the TMPGEnc program. I had problems at first, the usual then I read up, converted the audio to wav, changeed the name to asf just simple things like that. The beginning of the converted file worked pretty good when I first tried it. The audio and video were a little out of sync of eachother, but I can fix that by changing the gap betweent eh two, (unless anyone knows a better way). The problem is though that the vieo just stops about midway through. I don't know why. The audio plays all the way through, but the video stays at a single frame the rest of the time after it stops. SO does asnyone know how to fix this? Is there a person out ther ethat can help me withthis problem? Thanks.

I had similar problems with .asf files. If you are using the latest version of TMPGEnc, try a different template or use VBR for the video.

You may have some junk frames, try "Vdub 1.3C" to scan for them

  4. I tried, using a different template and taht didnt work, same problem. I tried fixing the asf file with asftool and tried repariing it, same problem. nothing different. I ried to load it into VDub to scan for junk frames, but it wouldn't even load saying it couldn't find decompressor for mp43 format or something. I haventried the vbr method, cause I don't really know what it is yet. So any other ideas would be helpful. Oh yeah sound is still out of sync. thanks

You need the Nimo pack in order to get the codecs for .asf files in VDub. You can get it at http://nimo.everwicked.com. As for VBR, it stands for variable bit rate. Unlike CBR (constant bit rate), with VBR, you specify the minimum quality level. From their, the program encodes at various bit rates to ensure that the quality level stays the same. With constant bit rate, you might have one frame that looks good at 1100 and another that looks like crap. With VBR, the quality is adjusted to compensate. The only problem with VBR is that it takes longer to encode.

The regular Vdub wont open these files, you need the old one "Vdub 1.3c" Mpeg 42 is the Microsoft ASF codec, they don't let people use it for AVI, but with an unlocked version you can use it. Nimo will provided you with the codec, but Vdub wont use it so you need 1.3c which will work with ASF files.

    TMPGEnc should also encode ASF
