I just had a few questions about the new DMR-HS2 coming in October. I know it has a 40GB hard drive to store shows and stuff on, but are we going to be able to edit what is on the hard drive before we burn it (take out commercials, unwanted parts, etc.)?? One more thing, are we going to be able to put a larger hard drive in instead of the 40GB? Thanks for any info. I checked out the articles you gave us Kus, but couldnt find the answers to my questions.

As long as we're asking questions, I've got a few.
Do you know if we'll be able to edit our chapter points, and if we'll be able to create menus with pictures?
Are these already released in Japan? Has anyone actually used one?
Do we really have to wait until October? I'm ready to buy one now!

Well be prepared it will have the Serial Mangment Copy protection chip built in it so no digital copy can be done say from DVD or any they put in your Dishnet or cable signal including Macrovison. Hollywood is flagging all HDTV channels with a signal that will prevent copies of any program they see fit, they want to control the programs you can and can not record, just read the article in Sept. 02 of Sound & Vision. I have their DMR-E20 recorder and there is no way to defeat the Chip, I was lucky and found a DVD Player that you can upgrade the Bios to defeat the serial Mangment System, but if dishnet decided to include the SMCS in a program I would not be able to record it. Yes digital recording is coming and will be limiting the way we can record.

I'd be willing to wait for the DMR HS if I thought the price is going to be in the same price range as the DMR E20 or E30. Do you know what its approx price range will be?

There was an article that I checked out on it. The MSRP is going to be $1199.99. I dont know a lot of places that go by MSRP so much, so we might see it for $999.99 or something around there.
As for copy protection, there has to be a way to kill it. There is a way around everything else, and I am sure they will find a way around this. Im not concerned with DVD2DVD copying anyway, thats why I have the A04. I just want something that I can record TV shows onto.
But like I said, someone will find away. I cant wait until October!
