The copy of Odyssey 5 I recorded from Showtime last week is screwed up. File size is about 2GB (about right for a 45 minute show recorded in high quality mode, VBR 6000 kbps, on my ReplayTV), but both DVD Workshop and Womble MPEG2VCR show the file as only lasting 10 minutes and won't play it past the ten minute mark.

I know the whole episode is there, because it's the exact same file size as the previous episodes. How can I re-encode this thing so one of those two programs sees the rest of the episode????

    Thanks...

If you captured in MPEG-1, you may be able to load it into Virtual Dub and scan for vieo stream errors.
    Hello.

  3. Try running it thru VCDgear with MPEG to MPEG selected and with FIX MPG ERRORS checked. This has worked for me on files that TMPGEnc choked on.

This particular screwed-up file was in mpeg-2 from the start. VDub choked, unfortunately. Thanks anyway.

  6. Sorry, I forgot to point you to VCDgear. There are links to it in the TOOLS section under REPAIR/CONVERTERS.

Oh, and being titled VCDgear, does it work with mpeg-2 files?

    Thanks...
