  1. I was converting an avi file to mpg using TMPEG ... when I play the mpg file .. I get little cube once in awhile ... what can I do to fix that?

    little cube ? Junk frames ?
    Scan with Vdub for junk frames first

  6. do I scan for junk frame of the avi file or mpg file? And where do I go in VirtualDub to do that? Sorry, not familiar with this program ..

    It is always best to edit AVI's and get them as best as possible before converting. Vdub does have a problem with scanning at times, which is a known problem, and we hope it will be fixed next time.

    Vdub
    Video > Scan video stream for errors

    If it finds any, it will list them at the bottom of the screen, to remove them you only need to save out another copy of the AVI using streaming.

    Video > Direct stream copy
    Audio > Direct stream copy
    SAVE AVI

    If Vdub gives problems, you need to use an old hacked version called "vdub-mp3-freeze.exe"

    This version make a log of the bad frames at c:\badframes.log which you can then use to delete the frames (At keyframes) starting with the highest block first
