Hello IFO Edit seems to crash on my XP Pro box every time. Does anybody have problems with this program? The program seems to crash at any function i perform with it... Tried the latest version 0.931 as well as older versions with the same result. Before I format my box, I was interested to see if im the only one...
XP Pro P4 1.4 384mb RDRAM
80 gb Hd NTFS (60 gb free)
Pioneer (White Box) A04 Works Great!
Latest XP Updates...
Last format Dec 2001
P.S. Does anybody know of a(n) Guide OTHER THAN DOOM9 (very confising) that does a walk-through on how to take a DVD 9 to DVD 5 and put the movie on one DVD-R without reencoding? I Want only the movies & chapters and dump all the rest of the garbage- trailers, music videos, director commentary, etc.
Isnt this Possible?
Thanx In advance...![]()

Alas, IFOEdit has a well known compatibility issue with XP.
Here's the site of the creator of IFOEdit. It has what you need, but if you can't understand the Doom9 info, you'll probably have problems with this one, also.

For your last question, not only is it possible, but people are doing this all the time. -
Thak you for responding so quickly...It seems that formating my PC wont help any...
The site you gave me for the other guide seems a little better....the DOOM9 guide seemed to rush through the steps too quick without explaining the items too much.
I work 2 jobs so I really didnt have a lot of time to goof around and try to figure things out for myself...(i wish i could as i learn a lot more that way)
I have a general understanding of the layout of the DVD structure.
I assume that i have to set up a(n) WIN 9X, NT4.0 or 5.0 Box then to get IFO Edit to work properly?
Thanks again!!! -
Go with either NT, or (as I prefer) Win2000 PRO. Get yourself some LARGE hard drives. Format these in NTFS file systems. Then, get goin', 'cause man, you're ready!

Windows XP is far superior to Windows 2000. I would never suggest someone take a step back to use a single program. I think anyone who makes a program that isn't compatible with the current OS should have his head examined. The next Windows OS will be almost the same as XP with a couple extra features so he is making his program obsolete.
Not only am I perfect but I'm Canadian too! -

Well for one they fixed the duplicate dll problem making it even more stable. Now when programs go to update the windows system dll's the OS makes them think they are doing that so the program works but the system dll's are never altered except by Microsoft. Thats prevents the problem where someone would put out a new dll that was great for their program but unstable for windows OS and thus cause crashing and instability.
That's a biggy. I had windows Me and had about 2-4 crashes a day. Then I went to XP the day it came out and had 1 minor crash since then caused by another program. Another thing is now Task manager isn't linked as much to explorer so it almost always comes up allowing you to escape a system crash even if it takes explorer down and if explorer does go down it is auto restarted.
But this isn't the place to discuss windows XP. Its just that the programs should change to the OS...not the other way around especially when XP has been out for this long and is the main OS now.Not only am I perfect but I'm Canadian too! -
Its probably stupid of me to ask but is there another proggie like IFOedit to do the editing??
IFOedit seems to crash when i open up the VTS_01_0 File and then select MENU EXTRAS and then press OK making sure everything that is supposed to be checked CHECKED just like in doom9's guide...and then **CRASH** ""Windows encountered an error...Blah Blah Blah...
I have no other anomolies whith this box...
It happens with several different movies ive tried...
Please help -

However I found that version .88 works alot(still crashes but sometimes it works perfectly)
Doesn't have all the features of .90 but seems to work for XP pro better...
Look for the ifoedit.88, might help.
I just use smartripper now and only rip the movie. I don't really give a rat's arse about chapters and menu's and extras -
Finally I found a PC at work that IFOedit works on. HORRAY!!!...
A win98 SE box...
I had 2 computers at home...One with XP Pro and the other 2000 Pro and neither would run the program correctly (at least to the point of I could finish a project...)
Now I will put win98 on a box at home, work on the project and then transfer the finished project over to the XP box for the burn where my burner is.
thanks again!!!
