why stops my playback sometimes for a moment

when i capture a tape and play it it somtimes stops playing for a moment and then it go's further what could be the problem
my system duron 800 320 MB ram gforce2m 32mb ,maxtor udma66 /7200 20 GB,miro dc10 +,

This is only a wild guess, but what might cause those pauses is an interuption to the capture from a diffrent application or even the Windows Swap File from writing the stream into the HDD, this can especialy be caused if you are using a single partition, and are capturing to the same drive Windows is located on.
