  1. Captured video using Pinnacle Ver 7, to .avi file. Can't open file in VirtualDub/TMPenc. I'm getting Video for Windows (VFW) codec error in VirtualDub and "unsupported file" in TMPenc. I had these two programs working. but somehow screwed up the codec. I can convert to .mpg using the program avi2mpg. Avi, mpg files play OK, but I would like to get these other programs working. Where/how to get and reload VFW codec.

  3. I did search google. Found out Video for Windows is no longer supprted by Microsoft and is being replaced by DirecShow. The .AVI format is being replaces with .ASF (Active Streaming Format) for both networked and local (CD-ROM) movies. Don't know what this means yet, but I guess I'll try a different codec in my capture program.
