  1. Using winrar to decode a downloaded vid, is there any way to "preview" the vid with just the first few rars? A while back, someone had posted a way to configure winrar to do just that, or so I thought!!!Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

  2. yes there is a way and as far as i know only this way will work but the rars MUST BE compressed this way-

Whoever rarred the video up had to choose the "store" compression option. Any other option will NOT work.
This is how you do it-

If you dl-ed a Tar or a Rar that has rars in it, just rename the .tar extension file to the extension file that the video is in- usually mpg or avi.

If you dl-ed rars individually, open winrar and choose "store" compression and rar up all the rars to 1 rar file then change the extension file to what the video extension is suppose to be.

NOTE- if it is mpg, it will play fine if the rars were using store compression
If it is an avi, open in Virtual Dub or use DivFix then open in Windows Media Player

You can do this if you have the first, (or first few) rars. Unrar, but choose the option *keep broken files*. If it is an mpeg, you should be able to play the file straightaway. If it is a DivX you need a utility called DivFix which will let you rebuild the index.
