  1. I am new to computing and was wondering what this is. I don't have a dvd player in my computer does that mean if I have that software I can rent dvd's from the video store and watch them on my computer if I have this software?

  2. No, if you do not have dvd-rom, you cannot watch DVD.
    But if you got dvd-rom, you have to install the dvd software to watch dvd disc.

  3. I can convert my avi's but when it's about 99% done, it tells me that i don't have the right dvd software so it can't play back the movie. That is very annoying. I have a dvd player on my computer, so why won't it work? Any suggestions?

  5. No, all a software DVD player is, is a program that allows the computer to interface with a DVD-ROM drive in order to play the movie contained on it. In other terms, lol there is no such thing as a free DVD player.
