I'd like some opinions from those of you who have used PowerDVD 4.0, or previous versions.

I have an ATI AIW. DVDs will play fine with ATI DVD 7.6, but I can only get mpeg2 files to play back properly with version 5.0. Specifically, there is a one second audio delay, when I skip around the file. ATI's software also tells me that some Directshow components are not properly installed. This was after a clean OS install, with sp2 and Directx 8.1. I repeated the process many times, with no change.

So, I tried using WinDVD, instead. DVDs and mpeg2s played back fine... until I left an mpeg2 file running, just to do a prolonged test. The video would freeze, after five minutes of play.

Anyway, I would rather not use any ATI software and I'm considering purchasing PowerDVD. My computer is currently getting "fixed." Both of my hard drives decided to crash, while I was rendering a file with Virtualdub.

Anyway again, I might as well gather some opinions/forewarnings before I get my computer back.

    Thanks.
