  1. I converted 2 ASF files to AVI files, now i want to join the resulting AVIs...
when i tried to do this using VirtualDub, I got the following error:
"Cannot append segement: The audio stream have diffrent sampling rates (3.90625 vs. 3.36471). How do i resample the audio so that i can join the files?

    Thanks in advance.

    AVI 1
    Audio > full processing mode
    Audio > Conversion > 44.1Khz

    Video > Direct Stream Copy
    SAVE AVI

    AVI 2
    Audio > full processing mode
    Audio > Conversion > 44.1Khz

    Video > Direct Stream Copy
    SAVE AVI

No Join with append, you could also use a MP3 codec instead of uncompressed, but its safer to save uncompressed incase of sync problems.

  3. I followed your directions, but I got the following error: "Cannot append segement: The video streams have diffrent sampling rates (25.20 vs. 25.00). Any idea how to set the video rates the same?

Thanks for your help so far. any suggestions are welcome.

I new it would say that, seen a post the other day when the video frame was 25.1113 V 25.1113 and it still gave the error, as it could have been 25.1133334

There is no pleasing Vdub, but what I don’t understand is that your original AVI only had a Audio discrepancy, saving it out using streaming should have maintained the video.

Anyway, if you really want to continue with the join, then the best bet is to load each AVI back in and save out using uncompressed video... That will teach it to mess with you

    Video > full processing mode
Video > compression > Uncompressed (RGB)
    SAVE AVI

You could select the codec that is used to make the original files, if the file size is too big, once they are joined and they are too big, you would need to select a codec anyway, so maybe use the codec now

Video > compression > Codec (Same as source)

Uncompressed will give less chance of audio sync

I hope your not going to convert this to a mpeg 1 later, as all this is not necessary if that was the case
