  1. Ok I have made two svcd's so far and they both are excellent almost dvd quality. Only problem is very rarely only when there is a black or dark background i see like little pixels but its not bad certainly nothing to throw a cd away for. I would just like to improve my svcd making skills.

But seriously whenever there is not like a dark background I can't see how anyone can tell the difference between it and a real dvd.

black is not really handled well in mpeg - things you can do are to have your contrast and gamma settings correct (ussually i see turned to high) on your source files or use a filter.
    and/or
make sure padding is enabled and select a nominal amount for your min bit rate - for svcd i would suggest a least 200 - though i often use higher.

    do NOT select "output YUV.........."

for both commercial dvd's and High Def encoding i never really use an all or almost all black area -- i have pixels on out of the safe area or in the corners of High Def. - this improves the picture when there is only a small amount of info or no info in those frames. i cant tell you why though.

You have retained junk frames (Artifacts) those may have been made during the download process, You can only remove them during the SVCD conversion, nothing will improve them.

  4. i have found that movies set at night or mostly indoors turn out better in DVD2SVCD using CCE to encode. black appears as normal ie. no pixelation etc. but things that are set in daylight turn out pixelated. the worst i have come across so far from memory is 'TOMCATS'
