  1. Hello! I'm new! Im trying to convert a moive avi to a mpeg1 vcd (mpg)
I hope i said that right any way i'm using the Panasonic MPEG Encoder! well its not taking like 1-8 minutes to convert its saying the elapse time is like 8 hours and 56minutes!!!! What! and thats only for the one that starts first (not audio or video) the system one or whatever!

do i need a difrent program or...........

ps. does the size effect the time imean the size of the file/clip is 203,356kb, and its only 1 hour and 10 minutes long! would that effect the time of encoding or whatever!?!

    bye for now!

I don't have the Panasonic...I use the TMPG free one......
Encoding takes a while...The more you change...the longer it takes....
I have a AMD500 with 256mb ram and a 7200 rpm drive and most movies (90minutes long) take from 10 to 14 hours to encode.....Faster processors will take less time...and the number of processes you are running will effect the encode time......

    Does that help??

Well once I used a Kwag template to encode with and the thing took 39 hours and was 1.4 gigs in size when done!! So I had to redo it with another template....wont do that again.....

Need fast PC or a hardware encoder to do anything like this quickly.
