As above. I use XP because I have to. Because most of the video applications only run on Windows. Eventually, when we have our tools available on Linux, I'll be glad to format all my drives, and then enjoy 720+ days of "uptimes", just like all my customers running Linux and FreeBSD ( and one OpenBSD ) have. Yes, I do have machines running for over two years without a restart, running vertical market applications.
I do have to give Microsoft a vote for stability on XP, but with ther humongous layer over layers + patches for fixing legacy code, they will never reach uptimes as Unix platforms. They just can't do it, or don't care, because they just want to sell and the hell with bug fixes.

And btw, I just got this E-Mail about half hour ago. Some of you may want to go to this Lindows chat scheduled after tomorrow:

Scheduled Insider's Chat with Michael Robertson, CEO of Lindows.com

One of the advantages of belonging to the Lindows.com Insider's program is having access to the Insider's Chat room, along with exclusive access to special guest chats. Below you will find details of an upcoming Insider's Chat with special guest, Michael Robertson, CEO of Lindows.com. Please read the below carefully to be able to participate in this event.

Date: Thursday, August 22nd

Time: 4:00 PM Pacific Time (7:00 PM Eastern)

Guest Speaker: Michael Robertson, CEO, Lindows.com

Subject: Open Topic

Location: Lindows.com Chat - 'Guest Chat' room (http://lindows.com/chat)

Special Note: We held our first chat with Michael Robertson in July. Since it was our first chat, we wanted to keep it somewhat manageable so we only announced it a couple of days ahead of time and only in the forum. We're ready for much larger chat sessions, so this chat is being announced via email to all Insiders and we expect a much larger crowd. Your cooperation in keeping the chat manageable for the enjoyment of all is appreciated.

Log: A log of the chat will be posted in the Insider's Forum a day or two after the chat for those who can't make it.

Format: To help achieve some level of order for the chat, the first part of this chat will be moderated. Visit http://lindows.com/chathelp to see how a moderated chat works and is different from the regular chats. Afterwards, we will exit to the lobby for an un-moderated free-for-all chat. Please be courteous during this session.

Submitting Questions: As per the guidelines at http://lindows.com/chathelp, questions can be submitted in the room during the chat, but if you'd like to submit any particular questions in advance (these questions are always asked first), please email them to chat@lindows.com with the subject heading 'Questions for Chat.' We will start the chat session using any e-mail submitted questions.

Thanks and we hope to see you at this event.
