Hi I am making a VCD at the moment and I am wondering what this talk about menus and chapters and editing is all about? What are chapters and what are menus? What do they do? How can they be made? What software do I need? I would appreciate a reply.

    Cheers, Christaltips

  2. Click that link in the left column, "how to - author". It's all in there.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  3. Well... if you've ever watched a DVD you've most likely encountered menus and chapters. A menu is a menu. You know, a way of navigating the content of the disc. But while DVD menus often are impressive (and after a while, annoying) with flashy animations and video clips, a VCD menu is often a lot more primitive. You can only navigate using the 1-9 buttons of the controler and so on.
The idea with chapters is to let you jump to your favourite part of the movie. For an example Lord of the Rings is divided into perhaps 50 chapters, so that you can skip the boring parts if you want to... (not that there are any boring parts in LotR :P)
As for how to make them, I'm not the one to ask... I have never made a menu or chapter oriented VCD. But I know you can do some basic stuff with VCDEasy.
