I made some SVCDs which seem incompatible in our Samsung DVD-C621 player, and I was wondering if there's an easy/quick way to re-encode the files without losing any video quality. I originally encoded them using a maximum video bitrate of 2600kbps and an audio bitrate of 224kpbs, and I'd like to redo the files using respective values of 2450 and 128. Any ideas? Thanks.

You could either install a mpeg2 codec (like powerdvd player) and you should be able to open mpeg2 directly in tmpgenc or use dvd2avi www.vcdhelp.com/mpeg2tovcd.htm

Thanks for reminding me that MPEG is a lossy format. I tried one way of converting only to have audio sync problems, not to mention that the entire process for one CD took nearly four hours. I'll just start with my original sources to generate an AVI file, encode using my new parameters to SVCD MPEG, and then burn the results onto SVCD CD.

IF it's a bitrate problem...which you don't know...just demux the mpg en reencode only the audio...to some low shit quality...remux and try again...you can reencode from 224 to around 90 and save a lot of speed this way...audio will be bad, video will be just the same and you can still try without hours of waiting...audio encoding won't take that long.
Other way is trying to reencode the thing, for just some minuetes of the mpg... or make multiple encodings of this mpeg at different speeds to try and find the max your player can handle...
good luck.
