  1. Hello all,

I noticed a strange behaviour with my LG 16 x drive and it's causing a lot of problems ;( .
When I'm ripping a DVD to an image ( Nero ) usually I get something like 10M/12Mbytes per second to the hard disk, but when by some reason the drive encounters a reading problem ( scratches , dust , etc ) it stops instead of reducing the speed and try again! But even more strange is that Nero continues to read ( like there isn't any problem ) and the DVD it's not running. I assume that the Nero is getting the data from buffer because the ripping speed becomes higher ( 20/22 Mbytes per second )!
What I would like to know is :

What's wrong ? Drive LG DVD 16x ? Nero 5.5.9.0 ?? Via IDE bus ? Or all of them ?

    Any help? Please?

    Thanks,

    FJorgeR

PS: I tried to lower the DMA setting to ULTRA DMA mode 1 and finally Multi read DMA mode 2 ( lower speed extraction 7/8Mbytes per second ), and the same problem occur ;( .

Are you attempting to burn an image direct from the original DVD ?

If so - I don't think you can do this as the CSS encrypion on the DVD will stop you copying it peoperly (even to an image file). I think the copy starts because the menu's, corp logo's etc are not usually encypted.

To produce a DVD copy, you need to follow one of the DVD copying guides listed in this site - but in summary - rip (deCSS), author, reMPeg if bigger than 4.3Gb and then burn with Nero...

I think probably not, because these forums are all about movies/video etc.
