After I've using Cinema Craft 2.62 to convert my DV AVI files to MPEG2 (DVD), I sometimes find that the video will freeze for 1/4 of a second, then resume. In a 2 hour movie, I've seen this occur randomly occur around 6 times. I am converting all of my home movies to DVD. The original AVI file doesn't have this freeze, so I think it's caused by CC during the transcoding process. If I transcode with TMPG on the same AVI file, the "freeze" doesn't occur, but I can't use TMPG for other reasons.

To quality-check the movie, I can 1) sit through the entire movie to watch for the spots that have this problem (impractical), or 2) look for some type of utility that can scan the MPEG2 file and tell me this problem happens. Once I know where the problem occurs, I can "patch" it for a flawless file.

Does anybody know of such a program that can do this?

    Thanks,
    Tae

yes m-probe (extremly good) can do this and also snell and wilcox has some software also to do this ..

if you think its just a bit rate problem there are several bit rate viewers in the download section.

you could step through the areas real fast with wobble -- it there is a bad spot wobble will either crash or lock up to prove it.

It's always a good idea to multiplex the mpg again before burning to SVCD. This can sort out several problems, and will give you some indication whether you have a serious one. You don't even have to de-multiplex it first if you use TMPG's mpeg tools.

Thanks for the info guys. Note: I'm creating DVDs only.

I'll check into this after I return from a trip.

    Thanks,
