  1. I have a pioneer and most or all pioneers have a max vid bitrate level of around 2500 kbps.

What my question is if I were to put an svcd and burn it on a dvd-r, does the 2500 kbps limit for vcd\svcd still stand or can I now go all the way up to 8000 kbps because it's in dvd format?

IF you re-author the mpeg2 svcd to dvd standards -- yes you can go up to 10meg/s

    but

there is absolutly no point to re-encode a svcd to a higher bit rate even if you are going to put it on a dvd-r ...

the quality CAN NOT get better and since mpeg is a lossy format it will only get worse and there is nothigh you can do to change this ..

so just convert the audio to 48khz and combine all the svcd on dvd-r with a dvd authoring program (if you want to fit several cd on 1 dvd disk)

  3. yea that was what i was wondering. I had read that for svcds which is 480x480 at 44.1 khz, i would have to tell the autheoring prog to resize the res to 352x480 for dvd compatibility and of course what u said, 44.1 to 48 khz. That would be great. I was hopin i could hit past 2500.

well yes its to bad it is not xvcd 720 x 480 instead of svcd 480 x 480 .. but just run it through rempeg2 to transcode it to 720 x 480 ... or if you feel like messing with it .. you can accually edit the header file on a mpeg to tell it is wide screen which on a svcd -> dvd aspect works out pretty good (mpegrepair is one app that can do this) .. idea is to avoid having to re-encode the whole thing needlessly..
